Looking back at April

Share

1st May 2016

It’s always amazing writing these news entries at how quick each month passes. April seemed to be about 5 days long, so we thought we’d take a look back at April and see what happened across Twitter:

  • #WeirdWeather was one that cropped up towards the end of April and what weird weather we did have. The country was lashed with Hail/Rain/Sleet/Snow & strong winds for a couple days with short bursts of sunshine and blue skies. As we are all aware the temperature did also drop which made it very weird April. Was certainly hard to believe it was actually April as we’re usually thinking about getting the shorts out.
  • Looking at the television and a show that gets everyone talking on Twitter, we had #BritainsGotTalent back on our screens for its 10th series! In April we were treated to 3 episodes of the show where we saw Alesha, Amanda and David all pressing their #GoldenBuzzer for 3 acts, sending them straight to the live semi-finals. Here at the Hashtag Directory we’re already looking forward to what #BritainsGotTalent has to bring us throughout May.
  • Another story which I find hard to write about but a great football story was the game between Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund #LFCBVB. With the game being played at Anfield and with Dortmund looking like they had control of the tie with their lead and away goals, it seemed impossible for Liverpool to comeback. As a lot of us who follow football will be well aware of this story but for those who don’t Liverpool came back from 3-1 down to win the game 4-3 and win the tie 5-4 on aggregate putting them into the semi-finals of the #EuropaLeague.
  • Staying close to football we also saw the #Hillsborough story which has been going on for years now. Finally after years of inquests we finally had justice for the 96 with the Jury reaching a majority verdict that the 96 were unlawfully killed. The families of the 96 now have the answer they have been searching for years on years.
  • Something that isn’t new to any of us is the ongoing fallout with the Government and Junior Doctors. The #JuniorDoctorsStrike took place towards the end of April (26th & 27th April 2016) meaning that a lot of patients had their appointments cancelled/emergency cases being delayed. We also saw a Junior Doctor quit live on TV. We for one hope that a fair solution is reached soon.

Twitter is a powerful tool for everyone as it’s usually the first place you will read about things whether it turns out to be a rumour, an announcement or a real life story. Follow The Hashtag Directory to keep up to date with all the latest Hashtags and Networking Hours.
