Looking back at April 2018

Share

1st May 2018

Another month comes to an end and this time it’s April. With another month it’s time we take a look back at April:

  • At the end of April the Duchess of Cambridge gave birth to her third child on the 23rd April 2018. The #RoyalBaby was announced a boy weighing 8lb and 7oz. The #RoyalBaby was born at 11:01am in the Lindo Wing of the Paddington Hospital. With the media gathered at the hospital aswell as a large majority of the public a couple who left the hospital with their new born were in for a bit of a surprise as cheers broke as they walked through the door, many thinking it was Kate and William. A bit later that day though the crowds got to see the #RoyalBaby for the first time.
  • During April the UK joined the US and France in carrying out Air Strikes on the suspected chemical weapons facilities in #Syria. Theresa May spoke out regarding the Air Strikes calling them ‘right and legal’. Jeremy Corbyn was less than impressed with the strikes calling them ‘legally questionable’ in a letter he wrote to Theresa May. What do you think of the strikes on #Syria do you think they were necessary?
  • The #LondonMarathon took place this April. An estimated number of 40,000 runners were expected to run that day in what later was recorded to be the hottest #LondonMarathon to date. With the weather predicted the organisers urged many to lower their performance, conserve energy and reconsider some fancy-dress costumes. The organisers also ensured that there were plenty water stations and cooling showers were placed along the route. Britain’s Mo Farah finished the #LondonMarathon third, setting a new British record. A sad moment took place during the run in which Matt Campbell collapsed during the run and sadly passed away. Some may remember Matt from Masterchef who made it to the Semi-Final.
  • A very typical British thing to talk about this entry is the #Weather during April. It wasn’t long ago we were talking about Snow and now we’re talking about Sun and high temperatures. Some headlines we saw in April was that the UK was hotter than Greece! Not sure how much truth is in that but it was certainly hot with temperatures reaching the high 20s. Although April didn’t finish with these temperatures it certainly got us looking forward to Summer.
  • One story that broke near the end of April was the #Euromillions. A lucky UK ticket holder claimed the entire £121.3 million #Euromillions jackpot. The lucky winner became the third biggest lottery winner in UK history. Congratulations to the winner (we’re not jealous at all…).
